the hope of Christ in the heart of Baltimore

Web Page

What to Expect

We love Jesus unabashedly. And we’re excited to share our hope with our city, Baltimore. You can expect friendly people from different walks of life. You can expect to be respected.

And if you’re wondering what our church gatherings are like, we express it this way:

Contemporary but Contextualized.

Our music usually has a current sound. But at the same time our music springs from a particular context. Quite consciously, our music is both for Baltimore today and from within a tradition of worship music that spans a few millennia.

Expository but Accessible

We’re so grateful God has communicated himself to us in the Bible. So, our teaching aims to help us understand the Bible, and also to understand how to make sense of it ourselves. But, no one is expecting you to be a Bible expert or even, necessarily, a Christian. Our goal is to be accessible.

Charismatic but Conscientious.

We believe that the Holy Spirit is alive and well and that He gives gifts, or special abilities, to His church. These abilities are for building up the church and for helping people. They’re not about making any one person or group of people stand out as “better.” So we depend on the Spirit to do His work, but we don’t make a big show of it.

Informal but Deep.

You don’t have to dress up. No one is putting on a show. We’re trying to be real with God and with each other because that’s the way God is with us. But at the same time, the things that we do together–singing to God, praying for each other and for our city, reading the Bible, being baptized and breaking bread–these things are incredibly meaningful. They move mountains. They change us. They invite us to become who we were sculpted to be.

It is because of you that we are able to do ministry. Thanks!
